Scooby’s Fun Zone originally aired on December 13, 1980 and is the first part 6 of the Richie Rich / Scooby Doo show. Here we find the gang heading to an amusement pier for some fun and games, and food of course.

How much trouble can our gang get themselves in? Let’s find out.

Scooby’s Fun Zone

The episode begins on the Amusement Pier where Scrappy is hungry for some taffy and cotton candy. Scooby puts his quarter in but ends up getting sucked into the machine where he becomes one with the taffy.

Eventually ejected from the machine, Scooby emerges with a stylish cotton candy afro.

The gang then step right up to a side show attraction where Scooby gets flattened by a 700 pound model named Little Lulu.

The gang then spot a Strong Man named Killer Krunch who Scrappy instantly picks a fight with. The Strong man tells them to scram, so they do. Unfortunately Scooby, while playing a carnival game, tosses a curveball smacking the strong man in the head.

The strong man chases the gang through a house of mirrors where we get a fun little shape, and the normal house of mirror gags you’d expect.

The gang then run into a House of Horrors where Scooby and Shaggy are terrified by a variety of floating ghosts, spiders and skeletons.

Trying to leave, the gang once more run into the strong man. The two disguise themselves as clowns on a water dunking exhibit, while Scrappy operates as a carnie. The strong man dunk our two clowns and walks away satisfied.

My Thoughts

twoI give this episode a 2 out of 10.

It’s not bad. The house of horrors was cool, although a bit brief as they are only in there for 45 seconds.

Still, for a pier side carnival, this one was fun enough. However, I have no intent of ever watching this one again.

Anyway, there’s only one week left of planet Scrappy until I return to reviewing Episode 1 of the New Scooby-Doo movies. So if you’re waiting for those reviews to start, it’s coming!

Join me next week when I will be covering the Swamp Witch. Until then, Stay Spooky.
