Soggy Bog Scooby is part two of the 9th episode of the Richie Rich/Scooby Doo show and originally aired on Jan 3, 1981. Here we see the gang in swamp fishing for dinner, but instead capture a swamp monster.

I don’t have any trivia for this one, so let’s get roll’n with the review.

Soggy Bog Scooby

The episode begins with the gang fishing in a swamp. They’ve been fishing all day long without catching a thing. Scrappy eventually catches a swamp monster, who, I must admit, looks pretty cool. He’s got this cool like fin on his back.

Scooby Fishing

Scooby and Shaggy try to escape, but of course, Scrappy tries to capture the monster.

Lake Monster

The gang end up on a dilapidated riverboat where the chase continues. Shaggy and Scooby take a quick break to check out the boat’s kitchen, but all the cupboards are bare. Scrappy does find a can of Cream of Broccoli, and in a funny scene, Scooby uses the Swamp Monster’s jaws to open up the can of soup.

The gang then pose as some Dixieland entertainers to confuse the Swamp Monster and after a final chase on the boat’s paddle wheel, they pry it off so that the Swamp Monster paddles himself back into the foggy swamp.

With another adventure over, Scooby, Shaggy and Scrappy head off on their next adventure.

My Review

four point fiveI give this episode a 4.5 out of 10. (I’ve bumped it up from a 3 in my original video review)

This one isn’t so bad. The swamp was cool, and the Swamp Monster, while no Gator Ghoul, looks cool enough to me. At just seven minutes, it flies by quick enough, but I doubt I’ll remember this one or think of it ever again by the time I upload this video. It is, after all, just a silly romp – junk food for the mind.

The scene where Scooby uses the monster’s jaws to open up a can of cream of broccoli also had me in stitches.

Anyway, that wraps up another review, join me next week when I will be covering Scooby Gumbo.
