Long John Scrappy is part of the 4th episode of the Richie Rich / Scooby Doo show and originally aired on November 29, 1980.

Here we see the gang sailing the high seas after Scrappy has been kidnapped by a Pirate.

If you’ve been watching my reviews of the Scrappy-Doo episodes, you’ll understand that it’s my goal to review every episode, and that I’m not a huge fan of this series.

With that said, let’s get on with the review.

Long John Scrappy – Review

The episode begins with the gang on the beach looking for sea shells. Scrappy spots a very short pirate on the beach and picks a fight with him.

Pirate

The pirate picks Scrappy up and steals him away so he can have a new cabin boy.

Shaggy and Scooby swim aboard the pirate ship to get Scrappy back.

On board the pirate ship we get a whole bunch of chase scenes involving cannonballs, tight ropes and barrels. We also have Scrappy riding a pig about.

Eventually Scooby, Shaggy and Scrappy knock the pirate into the ocean and sail his boat away to safety.

My Review

twoI give this episode a 2 out of 10.

The idea of a pirate on the beach during the 80s is rather silly, but that’s what this series is about… silliness.

The pirate was pretty generic, and not memorable at all, other than only being a foot or so taller than Scrappy. Still, this episode was silly enough to be entertaining, I guess..

I’m not a huge fan of these Scrappy episodes but it’s my goal to review all things Scooby, so that’s what I’m doing.
