Et Tu, Scoob? Is the first part of the ninth episode of The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show and originally aired on January 3, 1981. This episode sees the gang in Italy, where somehow they are transported back in time to an era of gladiator fights.

Et Tu, Scoob is a take on Et Tu, Brute? A Latin phrase meaning You Too Brutus, which is a famous scene in Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar. It’s here where Julius Caesar realizes he’s about to be killed by his friend Marcus Junius Brutus.

Anyway, enough of my Jibber Jabber, let’s get on with the review.

Et Tu, Scoob?

The episode begins with the gang driving through the Italian countryside of Rome. Scrappy spots a Pizza stand so they stop for a slice for an anchovy, pepperoni, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and garlic pizza.

The gang then stop at a Roman Colosseum, but accidentally wander in the wrong entrance. Here they battle it out with a lion, and then a gladiator named Rocky Maximus. During the chase, there’s a pretty funny scene where they drench the audience in hotdogs and condiments.

Attempting to escape in a chariot, the chase continues until the trio realize that everyone is gone. The whole thing turned out to be a dream from that strange pizza they just ate. A fever dream of some sort I suppose.

My Review

3.5I give this episode a 3.5 out of 10. Most of this episode is silly – but the twist ending took me by surprise. I loved how the whole colosseum battle just turned out to be a hallucination from eating pizza with several bizarre toppings. The hotdog scene also had me cracking up.

Well, that wraps up another episode, join me next week when I will be covering Soggy Bog Scooby.
