Showboat Scooby – Episode Review
The episode begins on the Delta Queen Showboat, where Dixie-Doo and the Showboat Steppers are performing. The performance is unfortunately cut short as the Ghost of Colonel Beauregard interrupts from a balcony above shouting out “Magnolia”. The audience panics and everyone runs out of the performance room.

Late to the show, Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy show up amidst the panic and begin their search for Dixie-Doo.

Scooby and Shaggy are the first ones to bump into the Ghost of Colonel Beauregard, who is searching for Magnolia. Meanwhile, Daphne and Scrappy have found Dixie-Doo, who explains the Ghost of Colonel Beauregard has been ruining everything.
Scooby and Shaggy reunite with Daphne, Shaggy and Dixie-Doo, just in time for the Mayor to show up and presents Steamboat Sally (the showboat owner) with the mortgage. The Mayor wants to be repaid, or he will repossess the place. Sally and Dixie-Doo explain they can’t repay the Mayor as the ghost keeps scaring all the customers away. The mayor leaves, then the janitor, named Pops shows up and says he just saw the ghost in the engine room.

The gang investigate the engine room, and have a run in with the ghost. They run back to Steamboat Sally who then explains that 100 years ago, Colonel Beauregard was set to be married to Magnolia, but on their wedding day he stole a priceless necklace from Magnolia, so she left him before they were married. We also learn that 100 years ago the boat’s captain also loved Magnolia.

Dixie then shows up with a huge batch of fried chicken. You know, because she’s southern, and because chicken bones are lethal for dogs.
Daphne figures out, by reading the captain’s log, that the old captain of 100 years past stole the emerald necklace and the necklace is still hidden aboard the ship.
Scooby, Shaggy and Scrappy have another run in with the ghost, while Daphne discovers that the necklace was hidden in the boat’s steering wheel. The ghost of Colonel Beauregard manages to swipe the necklace, but in a crazy twist of events, the Ghost of Magnolia shows up and steals the necklace from him.
Scrappy puts the boat into overdrive which ends up capturing the ghosts. The ghost of Magnolia removes her mask and it turns out to be Dixie-Doo, who used the costume to scare Colonel Beauregard.

Daphne unmasks Colonel Beauregard, and it turns out to be Pops, the boat’s janitor.

Scooby and Shaggy then sit down to a huge, heaping pile of fried chicken. We then get one last spooky encounter as the real ghosts of Magnolia and Beauregard reunite above water in the night sky.

My Review
I give this episode a 7 out of 10. It’s a fun one with lots of mystery and humor packed into a 12 minute run time. Seeing Dixie-Doo was fun, and her voice performance was phenomenal. (I’m not sure who voiced her but if you happen to know, leave a comment below.)
