Scooby Saves the World originally aired on September 26, 1981 and is the second part of the third episode of the second season of The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show.
This episode sees the gang launched into space where they encounter an alien-robot who wishes to conquer the world.
Scooby Saves the World – Episode Review
The episode begins with the gang working as cleaners for the Space Shuttle. The shuttle is accidentally launched into space and Scrappy couldn’t be any happier as they fly through the milky way.
The gang encounter an alien robot who beams himself aboard the space shuttle where he terrorizes the gang.
The alien robot shoots lasers out of his eyes, and the gang give him a makeover at one point.
Using a jet pack, they launch the alien out into space, and then land safely back on earth.
My Thoughts
I give this episode a 3.5 out of 10.
I remember this episode quite well when I saw it back in 1981 as a five year old. I remember the moon is made out of cheese gag, and the milky way joke. I also remember the alien robot quite well.
The alien reminded me of Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica which were popular at the time, and while dumb, the episode is somewhat fun. Still, I have no plans to ever revisit this episode.
