Scooby-Doo 2000 originally aired on October 17, 1981 and is the 1st part of the fifth episode of the second season of The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show.

This episode sees the Scooby gang far into the future, living in the year 2000. And man, is the future ever kooky!

Scooby-Doo 2000 – Episode Review

The episode begins with the gang washing clocks. High above the city Scooby causes an accident and moves the clock hands far into the future.

Big Ben Clock hands

Going round and round, the gang get dizzy and hallucinate that they are in the future. Moving sidewalks, and floating buildings, the gang check out Macy’s Department Store. Man, did they goof up their predictions, department stores are all but dead, with Walmart, Amazon and Big box stores all the rage.

Food machines

Anyway, checking out the cafeteria, the gang wrestle with the robotic automation system which turns them into a big submarine sandwich.

Robot Elephant

Next up is the toy department, and Scrappy has some fun on a rocket skateboard. They also play around with a robot toy elephant, and they come across a robot doll of Scooby – well at least they got that part right – Scooby was hella popular in the year 2000!

Robot ape with makeup

Soon they are chased by a robot ape until they wake up and life goes back to normal.

My Review

twoI give this episode a 2 out of 10. Holy cow is this episode silly. I think these episodes are starting to drive me crazy again. I guess the predictions about the future were interesting, but they were also predictable, and not all that creative.

Anyway, join me next week when I will be covering Canine to Five (The next episode is really Punk Rock Scooby but I reviewed that one back in 2019)
