Scooby and the Bandit is the third part of the 13th episode of Scooby-Doo and Scrappy Doo season 2 and originally aired on January 31, 1981 as part of the Richie Rich and Scooby-Doo Show.

Not much trivia for this one, other than we see that they Mystery Machine’s license plate is ‘Scooby’

Two Mystery Movies

The episode begins with the gang at a truck stop, and if you blinked, you’d miss the fact that there were two mystery machines in the parking lot – except one has the words Master Movers on it instead.

Scrappy orders pancakes and loads it up with ketchup while Scooby and Shaggy get hamburgers. After being called cute by the waitress, a distracted Scooby gets ketchup on a trucker’s ice cream. The Trucker’s name is Bandit, and his sidekick is Wilber.

Bandit turns Scooby into a doggy pretzel, so Scrappy goes in for the attack. Running out, the gang hop in the wrong van and take the Master Movers

Wilbur uses his rig to chase down the gang and we get 4 minutes of chase scenes involving boats, hotdogs, trains and mud.

Eventually the gang hop on a train and make a getaway.

My Review

twoI give this episode a 2 out of 10.

Seeing a similar Mystery Machine was fun enough, but ugh, this episode was pure trash. After watching so many of these in a row was not a good idea.

On the plus side, it was funny that Scrappy liked ketchup on his pancakes, and the flirty waitress was neat. I also didn’t mind Wilbur who kept saying ‘that’s a 10-4’

I don’t have much to add to this, other than I’m happy I’m done with this series and I will spend the next 21 weeks reviewing Season 3.

Usually I do a ranking of episodes – but I think it would break me – I do not want to relive this series. Please do not make me relive this series.

So join me next week when I will be covering Scooby Nocchio. Until then, Stay Spooky!
