Muscle trouble originally aired on October 30, 1982 and is part of the 6th episode of the 4th season of Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo era.
In this episode the gang get involved in a sailboat race with the local muscle man named Muscles Malone. From that synopsis I can guarantee that this won’t be a spooky ride. Oh well, let’s get on with the review.
Muscle Trouble – Episode Review
The episode begins with a strong man on the beach with his bulldog (named Brutus) performing feats of strength to impress a woman named Trixie. Distracted by the man’s strength, Shaggy walks into a volleyball net and out muscles the Muscle man – making him jealous.
The strong man threatens to beat Shaggy up, but accepts a sailboat race instead to determine who gets to use the beach.
After a slow start to the race, due to cheating on part by Muscles Malone and Brutus the bulldog, (at one point the strong man uses a sword fish contest to saw a hole in the gang’s boat) the gang end up winning the Sailboat race.
My Review
I give this episode a 3.5 out of 10
As a sailor, I could appreciate this one. There’s also a lesson on display here, where the gang instead of trying to win the sailboat contest, work hard to save Muscles Malone and Brutus from drowning.
