Movie Monster Menace originally aired on October 2, 1982 and is the 2nd part of the 2nd episode of the Scooby and Scrappy Puppy Hour.
This episode sees the gang hired as actors on a movie set where they encounter some real monsters!
Not much trivia for this one, other than we get some cool looking monsters like Medusa, a winged gargoyle, a giant octopus, a similar bigfoot monster from Tenderbigfoot, and a gill-man monster.
Movie Monster Menace – Episode Review
The episode begins with the gang getting hired as teen actors for the movie ‘I am a teenage Monster’ at the Super Colossal Pictures Studio.
We meet Manfred Von Scareheim, the director, who has something called the Instant Monster Ray that turns people into Monsters, all without the use of makeup.
The gang are supposed to be the monster’s victims and the chase begins!
Shaggy dresses up as Frankenstein, Scrappy as the devil and Scooby as the abominable snowman to mingle with the monsters at a dinner party so they can steal the ray and change everyone back.
After stealing the ray, Scooby turns Shaggy into a monster so he can capture the other monsters. Scooby then reverses the ray and turns everyone back.
My Review
I give this episode a 4.5 out of 10.
This one is okay, we’re back to real monsters, and there’s not much plot to this one – it’s mostly one big chase episode. Still, the monsters looked cool, with medusa being my favourite.
The dinner scene was super funny where the gang are offered some extra gross food that not even they will eat (and that’s saying something as we previously saw Scooby eat a fish head in the the Maltese Mackerel)
Anyway join me next week when I will be covering the Catfish Burglar Caper
