Dumb Waiter Caper is the second part of the first episode of the Scooby & Scrappy-Doo Puppy Hour and originally aired on September 25, 1982.
Uncle Fearless is on vacation in Antarctica, so it’s up to the gang to solve the case of a diamond heist.
Dumb Waiter Caper – Review
The episode begins with the gang fast asleep at the Fearless Detective Agency.
The phone rings and Scrappy answers the phone where Mr. Fearless tells them that he will be in Antarctica for a week. Mr. Fearless wants them to attend a birthday party for the Mobster Buggsy Burton who is suspected of stealing diamonds. Scooby agrees as there will be lots of food there.
At Bugsy Burton’s headquarters the gang watch lots of mobsters enter the house. Dressing up in suits, along with accents and moustaches, the gang enter the mansion. The doorman Bruiser chases after the gang and the whole gang hide in flour bins where they overhear the diamonds are hidden in the freezer.
At the freezer, Scooby finds the diamonds and the gang disguise themselves as waiters. Buggsy gets ahold of the diamonds thinking it’s ice, and we get lots more shenanigans and chase scenes as the gang try to get the diamonds back while escaping the mobsters.
Eventually the gang capture the mobsters, and the episode ends.
My Review
I give this episode a 5 out of 10. It’s not spooky, but I enjoyed the voice work in this one, and the mobster tropes. The gags were pretty funny, and the plot was a lot of fun.
