Beauty Contest Caper originally aired on October 16, 1982 and is the first part of the 4th episode of the Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo Puppy Hour.
In this episode the Fearless Detective Agency goes undercover to discover why contestants are going missing at the Miss Earth Beauty Contest.
Beauty Contest Caper – Episode Review
The episode begins with the gang taking a lunch break. Miss Bulgravia interrupts their lunch and hires the gang after explaining that many of the contestants have been kidnapped by some huge awful thing.
Shaggy slaps on some makeup, a wig and a dress and goes undercover as Miss Antarctica for the beauty contest.
Before walking on stage, Shaggy is snagged by the huge awful thing and we get our obligatory chase scene.
Sliding down the laundry chute, Scooby and Scrappy find Shaggy and the other contestants high above in cages. More chase scenes ensue and we soon find Miss Bulgravia was behind the whole scheme. Her plan was to win by default.
Her plan almost worked too, but she is soon apprehended along with her partner Bruno. Meanwhile, the grateful 
give the gang plenty of smooches.
My Review
I give this episode a 3.5 out of 10. The huge awful thing was cool enough, and seeing Shaggy in drag is always entertaining, however, there isn’t much of a plot to this one. It’s basically 3 chase scenes. Which just isn’t my thing.
