Basketball Bumblers originally aired on October 9, 1982 and it is the second part of the third episode of the Scooby & Scrappy-Doo Puppy Hour.
In this episode we see our trio playing some basketball, and it’s the Shaggy’s Sheiks vs the Slam Dunkers
Basketball Bumblers – Review
The episode begins with the gang at the team centre for a local basketball tournament. Shaggy’s teammates are worried as the Slam Dunkers are one of the toughest teams around.
Scrappy’s not worried, and Shaggy seems to be cracking slightly under the pressure. We also learn the Slam Dunkers have some electronic sneakers that allow them to cheat. The sneakers are controlled by a teammate in the basement through a video game platform.
During halftime, after getting clobbered by the Slam Dunkers, Scooby learns that they are wearing electronic sneakers, so he tells Shaggy and Scrappy, who go to the basement to investigate.
Dressing up as janitors, the gang steal the sneaker control panel and bust it in half. The cheater can still control the slam dunkers through his half, so Scrappy swipes some sneakers and uses the other half to control Shaggy’s team.
In the end, the Shaggy Sheiks win, and they get a mini lecture from Scrappy.
My Review
I give this episode a 4 out of 10. At first I was like, ugh, not another non spooky episode, but the introduction of electronic sneakers made this one somewhat interesting to me.
This episode had a bit of mystery to it too, and while it had a lot of comedy, the mystery was treated seriously, and then the gang used their resources to win.
Anyway, that’s enough outta, me, join me next week when I will be covering Super Teen Shaggy.
