One Million Years Before Lunch – Episode Review

The episode begins with Shaggy working on a Build Your Own Airplane project. Testing out this weird device, the gang are teleported somewhere where there are giant apples, cave people, and pterodactyls.

Shaggy making an airplane

Harassing a cavewoman is a caveman named Wunga, and Wunga is flying a pterodactyl.  Somehow Shaggy with his clumsiness saves the cavewoman named Doola from Wunga’s grief.  The cavewoman falls in love with Shaggy, and Scooby finds this hilarious until her pet dinosaur kisses Shaggy.

Cavewoman kissing Shaggy

At the cavewoman’s home, Shaggy and Scooby get stuck washing the dishes. The cavewoman gets captured by the caveman and The gang plus pet dinosaur head off to rescue her.

Wonga flying a pterodactyl

Shaggy catapults Scooby across a gorge to rescue Doola, but he lands in a pterodactyl nest and has to pretend he is a baby bird. We get some more fun in the caveman’s cliffside cave and the rescue goes off without a hitch (sorta) as Wunga can not swim. Shaggy’s a little jealous as Doola picks Wunga over him, even though he was the hero. The gang then teleport home.

My Rating

3.5I give this episode a 3.5 out of 10. It’s certainly creative enough and fun but lacking in the spooky department for sure. Highlights include Scooby as a baby pterodactyl and the cool caveman living quarters which were almost advanced as the Flintstones.
