Scooby and the Beanstalk originally aired on October 31, 1981 and is the 3nd part of the seventh episode of the second season of The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show.

This is the final episode of the season, and I could not be happier. I have no plans on ever watching this series again!

This episode is the Scoobyfied take on the Jack and the Beanstalk fable.

Scooby and the Beanstalk – Review

Scooby in a Sleeping Bag

The episode begins with the gang caught in a downpour that ruins their bean cookout. Scooby spills the beans ruining dinner so the gang go to sleep as they are hungry, wet and cold.

As they sleep, a beanstalk grows out of Scooby’s spilt beans carrying the Mystery Machine up into the clouds. There they walk on the clouds to a castle.

Giant and Bird

Inside the castle they come across the giant’s food and begin helping themselves. The angry giant shows up and Scrappy decides to fight the giant.

Vaudeville Dancers

We then get some chase scenes throughout the Giant’s dinner. We also get several scenes where the gang try to entertain the Giant. The giant is bored, and falls asleep, so the gang bust out of the castle and escape in the mystery machine, where it turns out the whole encounter may have been real and not a dream.

My Review

twoI give this episode a 2 out of 10.

It’s okay. I never want to watch this one again though. It’s just not for me and I’m happy to be done with it. As a kid I think I did like this episode though as I was fascinated with this fairy tale.

I understand there a lots of Scooby fans who love this series, but I’ll never be one of them. I need the mystery, the spookiness, and Freddy, Daphne and Velma fix.

Anyway, join me next week when I will be covering the Maltese Mackerel, and until then, Stay Spooky!
